Privacy & Your Data

This page outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. TrySolar is fully committed to safeguarding your data in strict accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Information we collect

Account details such as your email address and login information.
If you sign in with Google, the name, email address, and profile picture your Google account shares with TrySolar are used to create and sign in to your account.
Saved plans, electricity rates, settings, plan groups, household membership, and dashboard settings you choose to save.
Share-link snapshots that can include your settings, selected plans, rates, and results visible to anyone with the link.
Billing details needed to provide paid features, such as your Stripe customer and subscription ID. TrySolar does not store full card numbers.
Usage information about how you interact with the app, such as page views, button clicks, pricing views, checkout requests, and feature use.
Text, PDFs, images, or plan details you submit to Smart Paste or AI Extract when you ask the app to read a plan.

How we use it

To run the dashboard, calculate estimates, save your work, keep it up to date across devices, and restore your session.
To provide household sharing, portfolio organisation, private dashboard share links, and Pro feature access.
To process payments through Stripe and keep your subscription status up to date.
To read pasted or uploaded plan text, including by sending it to an AI service for Pro users who choose AI extraction.
To understand how the app is used and whether it is working reliably, without collecting bill contents or full page contents.

Sharing and processors

Third-party services for login, data storage, usage tracking, billing, and AI help TrySolar operate.
Stripe handles checkout, payment, billing, invoices, and subscription information when you choose a paid plan.
AI plan reading may send pasted text, PDF text, or uploaded bill images to a third-party AI service.
Some service providers may process information outside New Zealand. TrySolar requires its providers to handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy obligations.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to create an account, but some sync, household, sharing, AI, or Pro features may not be available.
You can avoid AI parsing by entering rates manually instead of submitting plan text for extraction.
You can ask to access or correct personal information held about you.
