Terms of use

These terms explain the practical rules for using TrySolar.

Permitted use

  • Use TrySolar to model household electricity scenarios, compare plans, and inspect solar, battery, EV, and usage assumptions.
  • Enter only information you are allowed to use and share, especially when uploading, pasting, parsing, or sharing plan details.
  • Do not misuse the service, interfere with security, scrape private data, submit unlawful material, or use shared links to expose information you should not disclose.

Estimates and advice

  • TrySolar provides estimates only and does not guarantee savings, payback periods, provider ranking accuracy, eligibility, or that prices shown are current.
  • TrySolar is not financial, legal, tax, engineering, electrical, retailer, or installer advice.
  • Check rates, GST, discounts, eligibility, meter setup, hardware design, and installer advice before switching plans or buying equipment.

Accounts and shared links

  • You are responsible for your account access and for checking that saved plans, household data, and assumptions are accurate.
  • Dashboard share links may show your settings, plan rates, and results to anyone who has the link.
  • Deleting, refreshing, or expiring share links should be used when recipients should no longer have access.

Billing, refunds, and subscriptions

  • Paid plans are handled through secure Stripe checkout and Stripe billing portal sessions.
  • Prices are shown in NZD and include GST where applicable. GST details are shown in Stripe checkout and invoices.
  • Subscriptions renew monthly or yearly unless you cancel through the billing management page.
  • Cancellation stops future renewal, and Pro access may continue until the end of the current billing period.
  • If a payment fails or a subscription falls behind, plan changes, invoices, and payment updates are handled through Stripe and may affect which features are available.
  • Refund requests can be sent to the contact channel and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in accordance with applicable law.

Service availability and NZ consumer rights

  • TrySolar may change, pause, or remove features, and uninterrupted service is not guaranteed.
  • Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable New Zealand consumer law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.
  • Limitations in these terms apply only to the extent permitted by law.
